Tscharke wines is the vision of sixth generation vigneron Damien Tscharke.

All Tscharke wines are produced from vineyards planted by the Tscharke family over the years on the three estates Gnadenfrei, Stonewell and Greenock Creek, with each wine produced retaining the terroir of their origin. The sub appellation of Marananga and Seppeltsfield gives rise to unique and concentrated wines. Famous for producing wines of great richness and longevity, the soils of the Western Ridge are the oldest in the Barossa.

Damien’s winemaking philosophy is about retaining purity in the wines, expressing their origin, variety and vintage. With a reputation for producing world-class wines Tscharke has achieved and maintained this status by using modern technology, the best French Oak and traditional winemaking practices.

Their wines, uncompromised from intervention, harness the phenomena of vintage variation and the unique minerality and concentration only found in Marananga, Barossa Valley.

2023 TSCHARKE ‘GIRL TALK’ SAVAGNIN

Pale yellow/green colour. A never-ending bouquet of floral, minerally, citrus and stone fruit. The lifted blossomy and nectarine tones are complemented by chalky, saline and savoury sub-tones. The most subtle sur-lie aging character gives it extra depth. On the palate Girl Talk is precise and fresh, with mouth-watering acidity and a lemon/lime attack. This develops into a lingering finish of fine texture and herbaceous tones. So lively and bright, this is the perfect wine for summer, to share with friends and keep the conversation going…

2023 TSCHARKE GRENACHE ROSE

This Rosé looks stunning in the glass with the palest peach colour and golden hues. The bouquet is incredibly aromatic and complex. Floral, green, and herbaceous upfront with chalky minerality and a bit of richness from the lees coming through. The fruit component is comprised of lemon, grapefruit and mandarin for citrus and freshly picked raspberry. It is fresh and alive. The palate is textural and dry. Here the fruit is showing more restraint and the minerality dominates. The structure is in great balance with bright acidity and enough juiciness to balance out the bone-dry palate. The finish is softly tannic, and lingering.

2021 TSCHARKE ‘THE MASTER’ MONTEPULCIANO

Deep purple colour. The nose is a picture of the varietal: spicy, savoury, with a nice rusticity to it, counterbalanced by notes of cherry and red plums. On the palate, this wine is powerful and to the point, with juicy red fruit and subtle oak tones to complement. The savoury nature of Montepulciano shows towards the finish, where firm tannins and woody, herbaceous characters linger for long. 2014 TSCHARKE PROJECT MONTEPULCIANO

The 2014 Tscharke Project Montepulciano, a Barossa Valley Shiraz alternative, is likely nearing the end of its drinking window (around 10 years for most Montepulciano). While finding a bottle might be difficult, here’s what you might experience if you do: Expect a mature wine with a developed character. The fruit-forward notes of blackberry and plum from its youth may have given way to more earthy or leathery aromas. 2021 TSCHARKE ‘A THING OF BEAUTY’ GRENACHE

“Stunning semi-translucent ruby colour. The bouquet is a beautiful mix of floral and spicy, with hints of violet and rose contrasted by dried herbs and subtle white pepper. So much life jumping out of the glass. This wine is crunchy, vibrant, incredibly juicy yet textural and with great structure. The red fruit fills the front palate and gives way to a spiced and herbaceous finish. Everything is in balance. This, for us, is as good as wine gets.” A blend of different Grenache blocks hand-picked at different times to create layers and complexity right from the vineyard. The early grapes were destemmed and fermented colder to retain floral aromatics. The later picked fruit was destemmed and crushed on top of its own stalks in concrete fermenters.

2021 TSCHARKE ‘ELEMENTS’ GRENACHE SHIRAZ MOURVEDRE

The nose is a charming – a medley of dark cherries, plum, and a touch of spice greet you, the first sip reveals a burst of ripe fruit flavours intertwined with hints of chocolate. On the palate there is a velvety texture and well-rounded tannins leading into an enjoyable savoury finish. 2022 TSCHARKE ‘SHIRAZ SHIRAZ SHIRAZ’ SHIRAZ

2020 TSCHARKE STONEWELL SINGLE VINEYARD GRENACHE
