SUSTAINABLE - MINIMAL INTERVENTION - VEGAN

Established 2016, Edenflo makes small parcels of wine min-intervention, no adds & zero to no sulfur wines which showcase the fragrance and purity of Eden Valley fruit.

Studying viticulture in the mid-90s, then working his first vintage and making his first Shiraz in ’96; Andrew’s winemaking was learnt via absorption, initially from his father, then vintages at Lehmanns, Henschke & Torbreck. After a vintage in Beaujolais and working around France he returned and went 100% native yeast and as hands off as possible. Adopting the mentality he had witnessed that great wine makes itself and nothing need be added when great fruit is grown.

Edenflo derives from ebb & flow, one of the seven universal laws. “Eden” a delightful place, region, dwelling etc; paradise – a state of great delight, happiness, or contentment, bliss (Collins dictionary). That’s the aim, to make affordable wines that give happiness to the drinker.

Once in the cellar fruit is either foot crushed or destemed over a screen, leaving various amounts off the whole bunch for par- tial carbonic. Whites are pressed straight to oak or fermented on skins. Reds, once going, are mixed by hand and once dry, pressed straight to old French oak where they stay on gross lees until bottling. No temperature control is used, no adds are made. Pumps are used sparingly and a family bottling line takes care of the final process. Oak regime has gone to old oak, mostly seasoned French.

Vintage is all hands-on deck; full of testing, learning and thinking. Family and friends are always offering a hand to help, as long as there’s a constant supply of beer, BBQs and pounding techno music.

2022 EDENFLO ‘BLUE LINES’ SEMILLION, RIESLING, CHARDONNAY – EDEN VALLEY, SA

80% Semillion, 10% Riesling, 10% Chardonnay. 400m + Fermented and aged in tank. Best Semillion vintage in many years.

2022 EDENFLO RIESLING – EDEN VALLEY, SA

Fruit from Springton ad Eden Valley village. Free run only ie 45% of 70% total extraction. Settled in tank. Racked to seasoned white barrels for ferment. Malo blocked.

2022 Edenflo Quincy J – Eden Valley

50% Gewurztraminer, 50% Riesling Both varieties were crushed to open fermenters and left on skins for three days before pressing straight to seasoned and new French oak for eleven months. Pale straw, totally opulent aromatics of lime, pineapple, and spice. Notes of ginger, pink grapefruit and cardamon. Stone fruit on the pallet with pineapple, lime, and orange. Perfect balance between the opulence of Gewurztraminer and Riesling. Acid and backbone are backed up with natural skin phenolics.

2021 Edenflo Jungle Sundae Pet Nat

“80% Syrah, then equal parts of Pinot Noir & Tempranillo.
10% Sémillon & 10% Riesling.

Made ‘Methode Ancestrale‘, it’s a bright, crisp wine with aromas of red summer fruit. On the palate raspberry, red currants, and notes of minerals. Dry with a creamy textured mid-palate and finishing with a slight refreshing bitterness.

2022 EDENFLO ‘MEZZANINE’ GRENACHE, SYRAH, PN- EDEN VALLEY, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

2021 EDENFLO ‘ÇHUCK BERRY’ GRENACHE SYRAH - EDEN VALLEY, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Two thirds of the Grenache is Old Vine from Clare Valley (Armagh Vineyard). The remaining third is from Barossa Valley 60+ yrs Grenache (Bethany Vineyard) comprising of soils with red earth to schist, limestone to brown sandy soils.

Late ripening vintage lead to very highly concentrated fruit with distinct raspberry aromas & fine tannins.

Half of the Syrah comes from old vines in the Springton Vineyard, Eden Valley. and is vinified in old french barriques The other half is Angaston, Eden Valley, Syrah. This fruit goes into fine new Leroi puncheons.

Very low amounts of SO2 with a reading of 35 mg/L total and free SO2 reading sitting at approximately 21mg/L.
