Torre a Cona

Fiorentina - Tuscany | Ludovica, Nikolo & Leonardo Rossi Di Montelera

ORGANIC

Perched in the Florentine hills, Torre a Cona is a historic Chianti estate owned by the Rossi di Montelera family since 1935. The 18th-century villa, dating back to 1066 AD, played a key role in World War II, serving as both a German headquarters and later a British hospital, while its cellars safeguarded Michelangelo and Donatello artworks.

One of only 27 wineries in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG, Torre a Cona produces wines exclusively from its 20 hectares of limestone-rich vineyards, planted at 300–410 meters. Half of the estate is dedicated to olive oil production and hospitality, offering visitors an authentic Tuscan experience.

Committed to terroir-driven winemaking, the estate produces elegant, age-worthy wines, including Sangiovese, Colorino blends, Trebbiano Toscano, and Malvasia Bianca. With a focus on varietal expression and balance, Torre a Cona remains a true reflection of Florence’s winemaking heritage.

2020 TORRE A CONA CHIANTI COLLI FIORENTINI ‘CROCIFERRO’ DOCG

A brazen Sangiovese from the Cianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG. There’s a little Colorino in there too, if you’re interested. 30% has been barrel aged, the rest in stainless steel for freshness. It’s graceful, ready to drink and clearly red fruit-driven, with a grounding on the forest floor and a whiff of cigar box. A postcard from Tuscany, bottled.
