Precipice Wines

After 20 years of selling, tasting, drinking and producing wine, Marty Singh’s long held desire to make his own wines, under his own label, became a reality in 2011 when Precipice was born.

Marty’s goal was simple, to produce single site, small batch wines that reflect the geographical diversity of the Yarra Valley with elegance, control and respect.

As a long-standing member of the Oakridge wine making team for over 21 years, Marty has been fortunate to work and learn alongside wine greats including David Bicknell and Adrian Rodda. The privilege of helping produce award- winning Oakridge wines, over many vintages, has provided Marty with a deep understanding of premium winemaking. This experience and in- valuable lessons have helped shape Precipice wines.

In 2012 Marty approached veteran grower Jan Lee with the idea of making a single batch Shiraz from her Hyde Park Vineyard in Coldstream. It would be the first single batch ever produced from Hyde Park and Precipice’s first ever vintage. Since that early success, Precipice Wines have quietly grown adding Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Syrah, and Syrah Rose to the range. Marty remains committed to his artisanal approach to winemaking, sourcing small parcels of premium fruit from vineyards including Stewart’s Vineyard, Murrummong and Willow Lake.

While Precipice Wines continues to enjoy recognition and success, Marty can be found living and working in his favourite part of the world, Gruyere.
