Eastern Peake
Coghills Creek, Victoria
SUSTAINABLE - MINIMAL INTERVENTION - VEGAN
Eastern Peake Vineyards is located on a plateau in Coghills Creek, Ballarat Highlands, with stunning views of Mt Bolton and the Creswick Plains. Established in 1983, the vineyard originally planted 8 acres of Pinot Noir, followed by 4 acres of Chardonnay in 1991. A winery and cellar door were completed in time for the 1995 vintage.
At 430m elevation, Eastern Peake benefits from a cool climate, ideal for producing high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The duplex clay loam basalt soils, originally identified by renowned winemaker Trevor Mast, contribute to the site’s exceptional character.
The vineyard follows cane pruning and vertical shoot positioning, with hand-harvesting occurring from late April to mid-May. Yields are kept low at under 2 tonnes per acre. Winemaking is minimal intervention—no additions except a small amount of SO₂, with fermentations often in wax-lined concrete fermenters, continuing a tradition upheld for over 20 years.

2022 EASTERN PEAKE PERSUASION ROSE - 100% SYRAH
“The label you can see here takes inspiration from the 1996 Persuasion (rosé) label, Its hard to imagine now that in the early 1990s Dry, delicious, fresh textured rosé wasn’t all that popular. I’m glad my parents stuck to their guns & a paved the way for me to continue to produce a similar style to this day.”
“The fruit for this wine is grown by long term friends Frank & Kerry Walsh, directly over the road on the same soil type as Eastern Peake weathered basalt on grey loam. Frank first established with pinot noir in 1995 then a second 1 acre planting in 2003 with Syrah (Clone PT23).”
2022 EASTERN PEAKE SANS SOUFFRE PINOT NOIR
The Sans Soufre Pinot Noir originates from fruit batches that typically contribute to the Intrinsic Pinot.
Owen Latta usually waits until bottling to add sulphur. However, when the fruit reaches an optimal ripeness, balancing its high natural acidity, it becomes unnecessary.
The result is an invigorating wine, brimming with sharp red berries, offering a pure and refreshing taste. It’s instantly endearing and a breeze to sip on.

2022 EASTERN PEAKE ’TWO MILE HILL’ CHARDONNAY
The 2022 Two Mile Hill Chardonnay showcases the purity and elegance Eastern Peake is renowned for. Aromas of white peach, nectarine, and lemon curd are layered with subtle notes of cashew, struck flint, and delicate white florals. The palate is finely textured, balancing ripe stone fruit and crisp citrus with a touch of creamy lees influence. Bright acidity gives focus and length, while subtle oak integration adds gentle spice and structure. Refined, balanced, and expressive, this is a Chardonnay that highlights both the vineyard’s cool-climate finesse and the winemaker’s light touch.
